Go Islay,From skiing in Courchevel to Hebridean holidays – it’s a small world

Team GoIslay recently returned from a week skiing in Courchevel. Our thoughts are never really far from Islay holidays to be honest, so we were pleasantly surprised when we met our ski instructor for the week, Ben Brierley. It turned out that Ben, when he’s not patiently coaxing people through the three valleys, helps to run the Wild-Island outdoor activity centre for kids on Rua Fiola, a small, privately owned island off the West Coast of Scotland North of Jura. Although our bodies may have been focused on skiing, our minds and conversations quickly turned to Islay and the Hebrides!

Check out the Wild Island website for more information on their island exploration holidays:

When we got back, we helped our neighbours Rob and Joanna plan a new website for their self-catering cottage on the Isle of Luing. Coming soon:

The designer of the new website is currently enjoying a relaxing week at Bayview. It may be fate or we may just gravitate towards those with a love of the Hebrides but it all helps to keep Islay in our minds. Of course, this now means that the younger members of Team GoIslay are cunningly planning their Summer school holidays, with the hope of fitting in a trip to Islay, Luing and Rua Fiola…

Our next trip is planned for the Walk Islay week, where we hope to enjoy some of the following jaunts posted by the ever helpful Armin Grewe on his comprehensive Islay blog:

Armin has kindly produced a full programme and has even plotted the 2011 walks on a Google map.

We still have some availability in the cottage this year but it has been booking up fast so we thought we’d better book some time in for our own enjoyment! Get in touch if you are thinking of a Hebridean holiday.
